AML Verification
The core purpose of AML (Anti-Money Laundering) verification is to determine the origin of the funds for a given transaction (such as the purchase of real estate) and to ensure the transaction is not a form of money laundering.

By czech law, AML checks are mandatory in certain cases (e.g., for transactions exceeding 10,000 EUR).

Step 1 – Accessing AML Checks

You can access both previously completed and new AML checks through the left-hand menu of the application, under the Contacts tab. After selecting a contact to which the AML check applies, you will be able to see whether AML checks were performed in the past (along with an overview of their results), or initiate a new one.

Step 2 – AML Check Options

The first and most important choice is to determine whether the AML check will be conducted remotely or in person. An in-person check involves fewer steps, as you can personally verify the client's identity instead of having them fill in ID details, take photos of their ID, or a selfie. For in-person checks, you simply confirm that you’ve verified the person’s identity. More details about remote checks below.

Second ID Document – If selected, the client will be required to clearly photograph a second personal ID document (e.g., driver’s license, passport) in addition to their main ID.

Micro-payment – A request will be sent to the client to make a payment of 1 CZK (or more), including a QR code to speed up the process. The purpose of the micro-payment is to verify that the person has access to a bank account in their own name. The client does not need to log into their online banking within Legal Systems or input any sensitive credentials.

You just need to tick the “Payment Made” checkbox, and then confirm whether you’ve received the payment into the specified account.

Additional Attachments – If enabled, you can specify which documents the client must upload during the verification. These should relate to the AML check, such as evidence of the source of funds or identity documents.

Step 3 – Selecting Checks

After entering all the required information about the client and the method of verification, you can select which additional checks (KYC, PEP, enforcement, etc.) should be performed along with the AML check, or opt to use results from previously completed checks.

Don’t forget to enter the client’s date of birth or personal ID number at the bottom of the page.

After clicking Start, a verification link will be sent to the client’s email address for them to complete the AML check.

Step 4 – Client Completes the Data

After clicking the link, the client will be shown a page with a button to start the check.

Important: The verification must also be completed on this page! After taking the selfie, the client must wait for the system to evaluate the check before closing the page.

During the verification, the client will:

  • Provide personal information and details about the origin of their funds

  • Sign a declaration confirming the truthfulness of the information

  • Complete the micro-payment (if enabled)

  • Verify their identity

  • Upload the requested attachments (if any)

Identity Verification – The client can either take the photos on the same device they’re using (PC with webcam or phone) or switch devices by scanning a QR code or receiving an SMS link. Because the photos must be of high quality, we recommend using a smartphone with both front and rear cameras.

The client must take legible photos of the front and back of their ID, a second document (if required), and finally a selfie. The application will guide the client during the selfie to ensure proper alignment. Once the face is clearly visible, the app will automatically capture the photo.

Step 5 – Completing the Check

Once the client completes the verification, you will be notified by email with the result. If successful, you can finish the check on the Contact page.

If the check was completed with errors, you can notify the client and resend the form, or manually correct any incorrect information.

Finally, you’ll complete the AML check in two key sections highlighted below:

  1. Provide information about the client’s political exposure

  2. Fill out details about the nature of the transaction

On the right-hand side of the screen, you can review all submitted data. The app also scans multiple databases and alerts you to any potential matches with politically exposed persons (PEPs).

If no issues arise, you can finalize the AML check.
