How to Set Up Two-Factor Authentication?

Written by Support LS

Two-factor authentication (2FA) can be configured in our application in two ways: voluntarily, where the user chooses to enable it, or mandatorily, where the company's management requires it for all users (in which case it cannot be disabled). In the case of mandatory 2FA, you will encounter its setup during your first login to the application. Voluntary 2FA can be enabled in your profile settings, as shown in the image below. The connection with the authentication application is the same in both cases, so the procedure is described together.

Step 1 – Install an Authentication Application on Your Phone or Tablet

Before setting up 2FA, it's advisable to have an authentication application installed. If you don't have one, you can use, for example, Google Authenticator, which is free and available for both Android and iOS devices.

Step 2 – Scan the QR Code Displayed in Our Application

Once you have the authentication app installed, use it to scan the QR code displayed on the screen in our application. The QR code links your user account with the authentication app.

Step 3 – Enter the Verification Code

After scanning the QR code, the accounts will synchronize, and the authentication app will display a six-digit code associated with Legal Systems and your login email. Enter this code into the "Verification Code" field shown above and click the "Confirm" button. Note that the code changes over time; its validity is limited, and for security reasons, a different code will be required at each login.

Step 4 – Save the Seed Codes

Upon completing the above process, a screen will display a list of ten eight-digit codes (seeds). Please write these codes down and store them in a safe place. They serve as a backup for accessing your account in case you lose your phone or it stops working. Any of these codes can replace the code from the authentication app. Once you've noted the seed codes, click the "Done" button to complete the process.

Step 5 – Application Will Require 2FA Code at Login

At each subsequent login, the application will require you to enter a 2FA code found in the authentication app. Remember that the code changes over time; its validity is limited, and for security reasons, a different code will be required at each login. It's possible that access may be denied if you don't enter the code within the given time frame. In such cases, wait and use the new code.
